Verbs meaning ‘know’ in Old Church Slavonic and Old Russian writing: Distributive, quantitative and semantic properties

The article presents the first attempt of a distributive and quantitative analysis lexico-semantic series in Old Russian language based on three multi-genre subcorpora historical corpus “Manuscript” (manuscripts.ru): lists Gospels, menaia, chronicles. authors made correlation between software processing diachronic data their linguistic status. semantic relations verbs with general meaning ‘know’ are considered: věděti, vdati, znati. Their substitution modern standard by only verb znat’ raises question about this lexical group’s evolutionary dynamics. established that entire belongs to original system, although vědati was not found Slavonic manuscripts became widespread sources, both colloquial literary. proves written sources acts as substitute for athematic věděti. revealed bigram-indicators it possible establish contrasting collocations věděti vědati, one hand, znati, other. Among collocates there were neither abstract nouns nor attach propositions. Distributive areas synonymy distribution row found, which reflected start competition chain lexemes. As method assessing proximity bigrams’ components (analyzed collocates), used statistical measure T-score r-Pearson coefficient determine distribution’s degree mutual correspondence.
